When I started with Laura, I couldn’t even do a standing pushup against the wall, or squat to a chair. I could barely use a 3-pound weight when doing strength training.
Now, I am doing pushups on my toes, using 20 – 30 pound dumbbells for my squats and strength training.
For me, the best part about working out with Laura is the confidence in myself that she has given me and continues to build with me every workout.
Looking back to before I started workout out, I was just surviving and not thriving! I feel now I can handle things better mentally and physically. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about how to improve my health and my body.
Last weekend we mulched out yard for 7 hours (split between Friday evening and Saturday morning.) Typically, I would be sore and exhausted after all of that work. I felt really good Saturday afternoon, enough so that I was able to go grocery shopping and do other chores around the house and enjoy the rest of the weekend. The skills that I have learned over the last several years have really played an important role in other areas of my life! Some of the skills used while mulching were beast pose, squats, pushups, lunge and most of all keeping my core tight! I heard Laura’s voice in my head the entire day. Her words of encouragement and direction on “keeping my shoulders back and down and my core tight” were used all day long. She provides functional workouts that definitely carry over into everyday use around the house.
Jennie’s weight-loss journey began prior to her attending group fitness classes at Unexpected Warriors. Since adding strength training at our Group Fitness Classes, she has continued to improve her health, fitness, overall strength and well being even more!
