Our goal at Unexpected Warriors is to empower women to tackle everyday challenges by boosting their confidence through strength training. We offer both 1-1 personal training sessions and group fitness classes. Strength training is our focus.
Our gym at Unexpected Warriors is a private space designed with you in mind. This removes any anxieties women may have when going to a public gym for a workout. Your trainer will be the only person watching you exercise. The Unexpected Warriors gym is a nitty-gritty, unique space to:

We walk with you on your journey to better health and fitness. We offer suggestions on additional exercise, stretching and mobility work to do at home on your own between our strength training sessions. Lifestyle recommendations including nutrition, sleep habits, stress management, etc. are also extended to our clients. We know at Unexpected Warriors how important solid, healthy, daily lifestyle habits are! What happens outside of the gym is just as critical (if not more so) than your strength training here.

Hi, I’m Laura! I’m a personal trainer at my gym located in Southeastern Indiana. My love and passion for strength training began way back in the 80’s as a teenager. After those first workouts with my Dad at the local gym, I was hooked!
Like most women though, my workouts got pushed to the back burner as I was busy being a wife and working mom. During that time (about a decade or so) things were starting to catch up with me. Years of sitting at a desk, no workouts and not paying much (if any) attention to my diet began to present itself as a few more pounds and a bigger pant size. I found myself standing at a fork in the road and was faced with a choice.
I chose to begin exercising again. First with walking, then running, some CrossFit and finally back to strength training. The decision to prioritize my health and fitness was one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself. I gained not only physical strength but mental and emotional strength too. There’s No Turning Back for Me!
The benefits I reap from the exercise and lifestyle changes I’ve made far outweigh the sacrifices I make daily. Vibrant health and fitness allow me to enjoy an active life outside of the gym too. I can play with my young grandsons at the park, spend time outdoors with my husband and go on mission trips with my church just to name a few.

I am here to help you gain self-confidence, that probably got lost somewhere along the way in your busy life. Making time for yourself to strengthen and feed your body well will help you thrive and become the best version of You.
